At first, I was dumbfounded. Then, seeing his gaming skills, I was downright astounded. It's tough to see someone struggle so badly. Annoyed, I had to ask,

"Seriously, Jason, are you even old enough to see a PG-rated movie? These moves are kitten-soft. Even the stray cats back at my dorm play better. Hey, it's not just about not killing anything. Think about your team—they're counting on you!"

As I sent that, his avatar bit the dust again, and mine followed suit.

That was the last straw. I yanked off my headset and shot him a look of disbelief from across the room.

"Really, Jason? I mean, come on, use your dexterity!"

I kept my voice low, but the message was clear and it didn't take long for others to start whispering. A quick glance around confirmed they were all catching the drift.

Jason's cheeks flamed up. He wanted to say something but clammed up instead, shooting me a look that was a mix of hurt and frustration.

The gossip mill didn't waste any time. By the end of the day, "Jason can't hack it" was the talk of the campus.

He'd avoided me like I was the plague ever since. Maybe he thought I was bad news.

There was Jason, still skulking behind his team, so I handed my bag to Ava, pulled my hair back in a high pony, and threw down a challenge.

"Hey, Jason! Prove you're not all talk. Beat me in a one-on-one."

Before I could get my words out, his tall figure rushed up and clamped a hand over my mouth. His movements were so quick and forceful that my retractable fangs accidentally nicked him, drawing a bit of blood.

The cut wasn't serious—just a bead of blood.

But this poses a bigger problem for me. To blend in with humans, I've adopted their ways, living their lives, and eating their food.

Yet, lacking fresh blood causes me nutritional deficiencies.

I could survive on animal blood, but I'm an exceptionally finicky eater for a vampire. Most meats turn my stomach, so I've mostly stuck to a vegetarian diet.

Now this situation took a twisted turn—the big guy in front of me accidentally fed me a drop of his blood, and it awakened something primal in me. I felt an overwhelming urge, rising from the depths of my being, craving more blood.

And I couldn't resist. I fixed my gaze on Jason, pressing his hand still against my lips, desperately sipping more of his blood.

Jason froze, a deep blush spreading across his face, but his hand lingered.
