"What do you mean by giving it back to you? I don't know what you're talking about."
I originally wanted to give him some face, but now it seems unnecessary.
"Property certificate, bring me my property certificate."
His eyes narrowed, with a hint of threat.
"Ariana, I'm your father-in-law. How can you talk to me like that?"
How dare he even call himself a father-in-law?
I continued to demand.
"Return my property certificate."
Yvette walked over, rummaging through the drawer under the closet and then threw a booklet at me.
"Is this what you're looking for? Here, let's see if you can take it with you."
It was the property deed! So, she had just hidden it in a different place. I held the document, ready to kick them out; I couldn't let them live in my home.
"This is my house! I never agreed to you living here; pack up and move out today!"
Yvette and Chelsea exchanged looks, unable to keep straight faces.
After a while, Chelsea finally said.
"Ariana, where do you get the nerve? Open it and see whose house this really is."
I sensed something wrong from their confident tone.
I quickly opened the property certificate, and my heart skipped a beat. I could hardly believe it.
Impossible, this was clearly my house. I personally paid the money and handled the documents.
But now it clearly stated Dwayne as the homeowner.
