I watched those men fall, lifeless, their threats silenced forever. But I didn't understand why I felt relieved but guilty at the same time. These men were criminals, but taking their lives was still a crime. I should have called the police, let them face justice in a court of law.
The man moved towards me, but the darkness obscured his features. Only his glowing red eyes were visible like a demon's.
But was he really here to help? Or was he another monster in disguise?
"Please, help me," I whimpered.
He stood before me, his face finally revealed in the dim light.
"You're safe now," he said, his voice cold.
My heart pounded against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat of disbelief.
It was him, Prosecutor Dylan Reid.
Kourtney P. O. V
Ever since I moved in my step-sister's house, I found myself drawn to her husband, Matthew. I knew it was wrong to fall for my brother-in-law, but I couldn't help myself.
Who wouldn't be captivated by a man like Matthew, who seemed to have it all? Wealth, intelligence, and, above all, undeniable charm.
Matthew was kind to me, treating me like a younger sister, but I craved more than that. I wanted him to see me as a grown woman. After all, I was at the right age where I could do whatever I pleased.
"Kourtney, I'm heading out for a bit," I heard Matthew say.
"Where are you going?" I was surprised to see him in a suit, looking even more handsome than usual.
"It's our wedding anniversary tonight, so we're celebrating," he replied with a smile.
I forced a smile back, but deep inside, a pang of envy stabbed at my heart. I'd long been envious of Lorelei, for she was the one Mathew loved.
I had tried, countless times, to tempt Matthew, to win his heart, but it was Lorelei he truly desired.
"That's good to hear, Matthew, but wait, I have something for you!" I blurted out, a plan forming in my mind.
I would disrupt their date, shatter their relationship. I didn't care if it hurt Lorelei, we weren't truly sisters.
"What is it?" Matthew asked, intrigued.
I grabbed a shake from the kitchen, a concoction laced with a medicine that would induce hypersexuality.
"I made this shake, and I want you to try it. I want to know if it's good or not," I said, handing it to him.
Matthew was surprised, but he took a sip, "Wow! This is delicious. You're doing great, sweetie."
"Aww! Then finish it," I urged, a wicked grin spreading across my face.
